Angela Somma has served as Chief of the Endangered Species Division of the National Marine Fisheries Service since 2005. In that position, I oversee the agency’s implementation of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) for marine and anadromous fish. I work closely with our regional offices to ensure consistent application of the provisions of the ESA within NMFS. Prior to that, I served as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Administrator of NMFS for regulatory programs. I’ve also served as the Snake River Salmon Recovery Coordinator for NMFS in Boise, Idaho,from 2000-2004, and as a foreign affairs specialist for NMFS working on international protected species and fisheries issues from 1992-2000. I have an M.S. in environmental science from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science.
